Joe Releases New Video #2

"Job Interviewing Tips - During the Interview"
See Video of the week at the bottom of the page.
Interviewing for a job over the age of 50 presents age related advantages and challenges. Joe's new video provides some first hand lessons learned (a few the hard way) in a short 3 minute video format.

T
his, the 2nd segment "Job Interviewing Tips - During the Interview" , released today is the follow-on video to "Job Interviewing Tips - Before the Interview. It includes both "common sense" and some very unique tips that might give you an edge when interviewing in today's tough employment market.

Listen to Joe as he tackles some of the most incredibly unfair questions asked by an interviewer to a person over 50:
  • How old are you?
  • How long would you plan to stay in the position?
  • How would you feel working for a manager younger than yourself?
It is illegal for an employer to ask your age, and most won’t. Instead, they’ll try to pin you down through questions that give them clues.

Know your rights. The Age Discrimination in Employment Act protects job seekers over 40 from discrimination in hiring due to age. Your employer can ask about your ability to perform the job, not your disabilities due to the Americans with Disabilities Act.

If you find these tips helpful please pass this forward to someone you know. Also, if you have additional tips you would like to share, please leave a comment below.

Note: Joe suggest you let the video run start to finish the first time and then replay and use the pause button to spend more time on the slides of interest.

Joe - The how old are you question comes up often. Usually by a very inexperienced HR screener - I'd like to smack them !!!!!

Your advise is sound and practical, focused on getting the job - Great advice - Sally P. - Fla.
